Dunn's River Falls
Ocho Rios's
Dunn’s River Falls is one of Jamaica’s national treasures. Described as a living and growing phenomenon, it continually regenerates itself from travertine rock deposits that form as a result of the river’s calcium carbonate precipitating over the falls. Its height reaches 960 feet, while still continuing to grow. Located in what is now Ocho Rios, it was named the area “Las Chorreras” by the Spainiards who battled there. The battle was fought by the Spanish and the English, over the possession of the island. Today, it is now a popular tourist destination where guests can enjoy the gentle flow of the river. The average temperature is 26 degrees celsius during the hottest months, and 23 degrees celsius in the winter. Its temperature makes this river perfect for visiting all year round. This distinctive natural wonder is a unique representative of Jamaica’s natural beauty.
